Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

PSSA

Throughout the year our students in Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in the summer and winter Blacktown PSSA competitions in both junior and senior teams. In summer (Terms 1 and 4) we compete in Softball, T-Ball, AFL and Cricket. During winter (Terms 2 and 3) we have teams in Netball, Oz Tag, Rugby League and Football (Soccer).Children travel to PSSA games by bus each week.  They leave school at approximately 10:40 and return during lunch time. Teachers spend time coaching the teams after school and during lunch breaks, while our school parents are most welcome to enthusiastically support our teams each Friday. Draws and team results can be found on the Blacktown PSSA website.
